Helping mountain women reach high

An international conference will take place on 18-19 April to showcase the important of women in mountain regions and boost their political weight.

It is often women who are particularly aware of their changing environments and get involved in initiatives to confront these changes.

The conference will therefore focus on how women shape and improve ecological, economic and cultural activities in mountainous areas.

Representatives from mountain regions worldwide will gather to exchange best practises and network.

UN Environment is a partner in this event, which takes place in Alpbach/Tyrol under the Austrian presidency of the Alpine Convention.

Experienced in topics connecting women and environmental issues, UN Environment has published various reports focusing on gender, environment and climate change such as the Global Gender and Environment Outlook and the assessment on Women at the Frontline of climate change – Gender risks and hopes.
