World wildlife Conference briefing | |
The Geneva Environment Network (GEN) is organising a briefing ahead of a major meeting where decisions will be taken on whether to increase or decrease controls on the international trade in wildlife animals and plants. Some 62 proposals covering 500 species will be discussed at the seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade The decisions taken – on national laws, enforcement, capacity building, product traceability and more - will guide CITES’ work up until 2019. Ahead of the event, a briefing open to all will take place at 10am on 14 September in Geneva’s International Environment House II.
