International Geneva takes to the stage at EXPO Milano

Several UN bodies and other international organisations joined forces in September to present ‘What Geneva has to do with your food’ in a single, original presentation before the general public at EXPO Milano.

The topic reflected the EXPO theme of ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life,’ and saw presenters take part in a dynamic presentation involving a food blogger ‘narrator’ looking to understand how work in Geneva offices related to their picnic and sustainable food systems in general.

UNECE, the WHO, UNEP and the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions were among the UN bodies taking part in the event, which was hosted by the Swiss Pavilion and opened by Geneva’s Deputy Mayor Sami Kanaan.

The initiative for the presentation was taken by the Perception Change Project, which organises a range of activities broadening public understanding of what international organisations based in Geneva do.

The following day, the presenters volunteered time to man a stand at the Swiss Pavilion and distribute UN publications and goodies and play games with visitors, further raising awareness of the organisations’ role in their daily lives.

More such performances are now being scheduled. For more details please click here or contact mark.grassi@unep.org.
