Eastern Europe and Central Asia workshop in support for the ratification and early implementation of the Minamata Convention | |
From 18 – 20 February, the sub-regional meeting for Eastern Europe and Central Asia was held in Minsk, Belarus, as part of the first series of workshops in support for the ratification and early implementation of the Minamata Convention on Mercury. The workshop seeked to improve the understanding of the Convention as well as familiarize the participating countries with the process for signature, ratification and implementation. Part of this process is to inform the countries about available resources of support and creating opportunities for exchange and action in the sub-regions.
"Each sub-regional workshop is concluded by defining national roadmaps by each participating country and setting out the measures to be taken at a national level to move towards ratification and implementation.
