Training workshop on the Global Guidance Principles for Life Cycle Assessment Databases | |
The 2-day workshop on "Global Guidance Principles on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) database development”, organized by Boðaziçi University in Istanbul on 23 - 24 February, gathered 30 participants from Turkish ministries and academia. The second day, which also counted with the participation of several Turkish LCA consultants, focused on developing a roadmap to further the implementation of LCA in Turkey. Boðaziçi University will lead the further development of the roadmap.
Two key short term activities were agreed during the roadmap exercise: first, the activation of an LCA network in Turkey bringing together LCA practitioners from all sectors (activity to be led by Boðaziçi University). And second, the Turkish Ministry of Science, Technology and Industry will partner with UNEP and the national 10YFP (10 Year Framework of Programme for Sustainable Consumption and Production) focal point to organise a workshop with government representatives on the use of LCA in policy, with the aim to link the need for life cycle approaches in items of the National Development Plan, such as Sustainable Consumption and Production.
The workshop has been organised with the support of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), GreenDelta and UNEP.
