A global emissions gap analysis, Brussels launch of UNEP’s 5th Emissions Gap Report | |
In parallel to the global launch of UNEP’s flagship Emissions Gap Report 2014 on 19 November in Washington DC, a regional launch was organized in Brussels by UNEP’s Liaison Office to the EU on the same day. The launch consisted of two separate events, a press conference and a stakeholder event, in which Jacqueline McGlade, Chief Scientist of UNEP participated.
Ms McGlade presented the key findings of the report to the Brussels media in a press conference at the United Nations Regional Information Centre. She was joined by European Commission Vice-President for Energy Union, Maroš Šefčovic, who in his statement welcomed UNEP Emissions Gap Reports as “a reference point for all of us who take climate change seriously” adding that the report is a “key source of information about the on-going climate negotiations” under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
