EUROBATS MOP 7 adopts a Resolution on Wind Turbines and Bats Populations | |
The seventh session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Agreement on the Conservation of Populations of European Bats (EUROBATS MOP 7) took place in Brussels, Belgium from 15 to 17 September. An opening statement was made by UNEP at this MOP, which was attended by 27 Parties, 16 Range States and 9 specialised NGOs.
Discussions about the conservation, management and threats to bats in Europe took place and 15 resolutions were adopted, including: Resolution 7.3 regarding the finalisation of an Implementation Guide to the Agreement, which will be widely accessible; Resolution 7.5 on Wind Turbines and Bat Populations; Resolution 7.11 requesting the Advisory Committee to develop guidelines on best practice in taking account of bats in insulation projects; and Resolution 7.13 deciding to establish the EUROBATS Action Plan for 2015-2018.
