UNEP to take part in European Sustainable Energy Week | |
UNEP will this month take part in a high level policy conference on sustainable energy for cities as part of European Sustainable Energy Week. On 18 June, Lily Riahi - Adviser on Sustainable Energy in Cities for UNEP - will deliver a presentation on how to ensure an integrated policy approach for the energy transition during the event ‘District Energy in Cities: From EU Vision to Local Action through an Integrated Approach’. UNEP this year released the publication ‘District Energy in Cities,’ on how the potential held by energy efficiency and renewable energy could be unlocked in an urban context. During the conference days, UNEP will also host an information stand in the European Commission’s Charlemagne building. More information: alexa.froger@unep.org |

UNEP Moscow office to hold dedicated WED event | |
The UNEP Moscow Office is organising a special event dedicated to WED to be held at the Moscow Lyceum 1586 institutions. A ‘Forest Valley’ opening ceremony will be held in a kindergarten and tree and flower planting and eco-games will take place during the event, which will be held towards the end of June. Meanwhile, UNEP activities - including those dedicated to WED - will be presented as part of a workshop on 3 July with students from Moscow State University of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Several UN agencies will come together for the event, to be held at UN House. Between 8 and 19 June, the Office is also organising awareness-raising thematic excursions to Moscow City Zoo for disabled children from orphanages and boarding schools belonging to the Maria’s Children Foundation. |
